With original labels on the reverse from the “Board of Trustees of the Generalissimo Franco Foundation. Agrupadas Artistic Industries. Madrid,” under the jurisdiction of National Heritage.
The technical label identifies the piece as “Murcia Style,” work no. 14,715, design no. 433, and knot quality 18. The second warranty label reads: “Made of pure wool, with no recycled wool.” Numbered on the reverse.
Condition: Needs cleaning. Slight damage at the tip of one of the corners (see image).

Large in size and exceptionally well-documented by its original labels, this rug is an interesting example of the textile production of one of the most significant Spanish manufacturers of the second half of the 20th century. The design centers on a large oval medallion in a dusty pink hue, dominated by an elaborate floral bouquet and surrounded by delicate garlands. Against the cream-colored field unfolds a light, symmetrical ornamentation that culminates in a wide border of scrollwork, floral cartouches, and large leaves in blue-green tones. The palette of soft pinks, ochres, greens, and blues accentuates its elegant historicist character and its distinctly decorative nature.

The Generalissimo Franco–Industrias Artísticas Agrupadas Foundation, established in 1941 to revitalize traditional Spanish crafts and industrial arts, made the production of knotted rugs one of its main specialties, achieving particular prestige for the quality of its designs and craftsmanship. The name “Murcia,” as designated by the manufacturer itself, is particularly significant within this effort to revive and reinterpret the historical tradition of Spanish carpets.
