This work belongs to Ramón Nadal’s final period, when the artist had established a highly personal interpretation of the Mallorcan landscape, linked to Post-Impressionism but progressively liberated through a broader, more direct, and textural brushstroke. Seascapes and coastal views occupied a prominent place within a body of work focused primarily on the island’s landscape.

Ramón Nadal trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in Palma under Llorenç Cerdà and Francesc Rosselló and helped found the Palma Circle of Fine Arts in 1940. A leading figure in 20th-century Balearic landscape painting, his work is part of the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection and collections such as that of the Museu Can Prunera in Sóller.
