The Education of Dionysus depicts one of the most refined episodes in classical mythology: the young god’s upbringing under the guidance of the nymphs, who impart to him knowledge of music, nature, and the mysteries of the vine. The composition elegantly balances the Dionysian attributes—the thyrsus with the serpent and vine leaves—alongside musical instruments and a cherub, reinforcing the initiatory nature of the scene. The delicacy of the drawing, the chromatic harmony, and the ideal of beauty inherited from Neoclassicism make the work a cultured and poetic evocation of the education of one of the most fascinating gods of antiquity.
