The name Beronia is linked to the history of the land where it is located. In the third century BC, the area known today as the Rioja was inhabited by the Berones, a Celtic warrior people who placed their first settlements in Tricio, Varea and Leiva, demarcating the boundaries of the region of Beronia, today's Rioja.
