Clos Erasmus is undoubtedly the least known, the one with the smallest production and the most difficult to find of the five famous and revolutionary "clos" (Dofí, Erasmus, Martinet, Mogador and de l'Obac), which from 1989 onwards radically changed the history of Priorat. In 2000 the 1998 and 1994 Erasmus received the highest score ever awarded by Robert Parker to a Spanish wine (99/100), which focused attention on this almost clandestine property. Clos Erasmus will be the first Spanish wine in history to receive in two different vintages a 99 from Parker, and one of the few in the world, making it one of the most sought after among collectors.
Swiss-born Daphne Glorian came to Priorat in the 1990s. Her friends René Barbier and Álvaro Palacios encouraged her to acquire a property in the region and dedicate herself to viticulture. The name of her winery, Clos Erasmus, pays homage to the Dutch philosopher Erasmus of Rotterdam, known, among other works, for his "In Praise of Folly".
