The Virgin of Montserrat presides over a composition in which religious devotion and landscape come together as an expression of Catalan identity. La Moreneta, depicted with the Child on her lap, stands out against the unmistakable silhouette of the mountain, whose rocky formations envelop the monastic complex and the small hermitages scattered across its slopes. The frontal orientation and solemnity of the Marian image reinforce its devotional character, while the prominence of the surroundings underscores the connection between the Virgin and the land.
