This folding screen won third prize in the 1993 FAD Awards, one of the most prestigious honors in architecture and interior design in Spain and Portugal. It consists of four hinged panels that transform the division of spaces into a pictorial composition. Geometric shapes and undulating lines in blue, red, and black unfold against yellow and gray backgrounds, creating a play of rhythms and hallmarks that transforms as the panels are opened. Its design language draws on postmodern aesthetics, both in the freedom with which it combines color, geometry, and ornamentation, and in its approach to furniture as a vehicle for artistic expression.

The FAD Awards are among the most prestigious accolades in architecture and interior design in Spain and Portugal. They were established in 1958, spearheaded by Oriol Bohigas, to recognize excellence and innovation in these disciplines. The acronym stands for “Fomento de las Artes Decorativas” (Promotion of the Decorative Arts), an organization now known as “Fomento de las Artes y del Diseño” (Promotion of the Arts and Design).
