Designed by Laurence Bourthoumieux in the early 2000s, Céramique Ottomane draws inspiration from the rich ornamentation of Ottoman Iznik ceramics, which were particularly prized during the 16th century. Its composition reproduces floral motifs characteristic of this artistic tradition, featuring stylized red tulips, carnations, and sinuous leaves unfolding against a white background. The design draws inspiration from a ceramic piece dating from around 1570, housed at the Sadberk Hanım Museum in Istanbul. The chromatic intensity and the balance between the botanical elements and the geometric motifs of the frame reflect Hermès’ ability to reinterpret historical decorative arts through the refinement of its silk prints.
