BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Pair of dishes; Japan, Taisho period, c. 1920.
Hand-painted Imari porcelain.
One of them shows restorations.
Measurements:
This pair of Imari porcelain dishes, made in Japan during the Taisho period, is a remarkable example of the technical and decorative refinement achieved by Japanese workshops in the transition to modernity. Made of finely hand-painted porcelain, both dishes have a lobed profile that accentuates their ornamental and balanced character.
The richly decorated design combines the traditional cobalt blue, iron red and gold tones characteristic of the Imari style. The surface is covered with an intricate floral motif, intertwining chrysanthemums, peonies and stylized leaves, symbols of longevity, beauty and harmony. The density of the pattern creates a vibrant and dynamic visual effect, reflecting the Japanese taste for rhythmic repetition and balance between color and form.
