DESCRIPTION
Set of six vessels; Southeast Asia, 17th century.
Glazed ceramic.
Measurements: 13 x 7 x 7 cm (larger); 5 x 9 x 9 x 9 cm (smaller).
Set of Southeast Asian ceramic vessels, made in the 17th century and inspired by traditional models linked to the ancient productions of Cambodia and Thailand. Their robust and functional forms, together with the glazes in dark brown and green tones, evoke the ceramics developed during the Khmer tradition and the repertoires of the ancient kingdom of Sukhothai.
These pieces were intended for the storage of food, water or medicinal preparations, forming part of the intense Asian maritime trade that favored the spread of this type of vessel throughout the region.
