DESCRIPTION
Pair of baluster vases; China, 20th century.
Glazed porcelain, partially gilded.
They have been restored at the rim.
Measurements: 44 x 21 x 21 cm.
A pair of baluster-shaped vases, whose design reflects the enduring influence of Chinese imperial-inspired decorative motifs, reinterpreted during the 20th century with meticulous craftsmanship. The surface is coated with a celadon-toned glaze, enriched with a profuse decoration of underglaze blue scrollwork and gilded accents that lend luminosity and refinement to the ensemble.
This pair of vases is part of the long tradition of decorative Chinese porcelain, whose extraordinary technical quality and ornamental refinement made it, from the 17th century onward, one of the most coveted products among European elites. Throughout the 20th century, Chinese manufacturers continued to reinterpret the imperial models of the Ming and Qing dynasties, reviving classical forms and decorative motifs rich in symbolic meaning.
