This porcelain plate is a refined decorative piece, in which has been reproduced, with great detail and mastery, the famous painting "The Madonna with the blue diadem" by Raphael Sanzio, an iconic work of the Italian Renaissance. Made of fine porcelain, the image has been hand-painted and enameled at a later time, probably in the 19th century, when there was a remarkable boom in the reinterpretation of great masterpieces on luxury supports such as porcelain.
The serene faces and the triangular composition of the figures have been carefully reproduced, respecting the sweetness and harmony that characterize the original painting. The soft colors and carefully glazed shades evoke the spiritual and delicate atmosphere of Raphael's work.
This type of piece was not only a tribute to the great masters of art, but also an object of prestige and domestic worship, used to decorate intimate spaces and highlight the good taste and culture of the owner. The reproduction of sacred works on porcelain responded to both aesthetic and devotional purposes, and reflected the nineteenth-century interest in classical beauty and Renaissance spirituality, reinterpreted through the exquisite techniques of European porcelain.
