Cadiz painter resident in Barcelona since 1966, Manuel Ruiz Ortega made superior studies in the Superior School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, obtaining the Prize Güell to the best academic record in 1974. That same year he became an assistant professor at the school, and later received his doctorate in 1986, becoming a full professor the following year. In 1991 he obtained the position of professor, an activity that he combines to date with his artistic activity. In 2001 he was appointed corresponding academic of the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi. He is currently represented in the Diputación Provincial de Santander, the Instituto de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Jerez, the Caja de San Fernando collection in Seville, the Fundación Caballero Bonald of the Diputación de Cádiz, the Museo Castell de Perelada in Girona and various private collections, both in Spain and abroad. Ruiz Ortega's work is characterized by the ability to introduce, both with color and line, in the formal essence of objects, configuring subtle figurative works that make him a distinguished painter within the Spanish art scene.
