Measurements: 67 cm (height); 43 cm (seat height).
Organic design chair with "Ivoire" painted legs. The seat and the front of the backrest have been reupholstered with "Calder no. 2" fabric by Nobilis, France. The back of the backrest is reupholstered with "Cherries" fabric, designed by Marie Gudme Leth in the 1940s and produced by GudmeLeth ApS.The chair was manufactured by Ilums Bolighus in the late 1940s.
Designed by Frode Holm, in-house designer at Ilums Bolighus, as part of his own line of bedroom furniture.
Very few examples are known to exist.
Illums Bolighus is a furniture and home furnishings retailer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Originally founded in 1925 by Danish entrepreneur Kaj Dessau under the name BO, it opened its first store in 1928, introducing an innovative concept that combined furniture, textiles and artwork in integrated environments.
In 1941, the company was acquired by the owners of the A.C. Illum department store and renamed Illums Bolighus.
From the beginning of his professional career, Holm has been noted for a marked creativity and a distinctive approach to design. His work is characterized by purity of line, organic forms and meticulous attention to detail. Throughout his career, he has successfully integrated elements of traditional design with contemporary approaches, resulting in pieces that combine functionality and aesthetic value.
