One of Jaume Tresserra's most emblematic designs, the Casablanca model is one of the key pieces of his production of the late eighties and a clear exponent of his formal language: sophisticated, functional and of great sculptural presence.
The walnut wood structure describes an elegant play of curves and counter-curves that define the armrests and the general silhouette of the piece, providing visual dynamism without renouncing geometric rigor. The seat and backrest, generously padded and upholstered in camel-colored leather, reinforce the sensation of comfort and underline the balance between ergonomics and aesthetics that characterizes Tresserra's work. The footrest completes the set, conceived as a formal and functional unit.
The Casablanca model, along with other iconic pieces such as the Carpett secreter, was used to set the Batman universe, and later chosen by directors such as Pedro Almodóvar, who incorporated Tresserra furniture in films such as Carne trémula and La flor de mi secreto, thus consolidating the international and cultural projection of his work.
Jaume Tresserra Clapés is a leading figure in contemporary Spanish design, internationally recognized for his own language that combines formal rigor, excellent craftsmanship and a marked sculptural dimension. His projection began in 1987 with the presentation of his first collection at the International Furniture Fair of Valencia, where he won the Award for Best Modern Furniture Design, immediately placing him in the panorama of signature design.
From then on, his creations were regularly presented at international fairs such as Milan and Cologne, and were distinguished with important awards, including the ID International Design Magazine Award, the International Design Review Award in New York and the ID Golden Award. At the same time, he developed interior design projects of great relevance, such as the El Dorado Petit restaurant in New York and the residential project of the Arts Building (now Hotel Arts) for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.
In 1994 he founded Tresserra Collection, a firm from which he produced and marketed exclusively his designs, achieving a wide international presence with his own stores in cities such as Paris, London, Madrid, Berlin, Moscow, Boston and Chicago. His work is today considered a benchmark of Spanish design of the late twentieth century, with iconic pieces widely recognized in the field of contemporary design.
