In 1961 architects Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá designed the Reno chairs and tables for the restaurant that gives it its name, located in the legendary Tuset street in Barcelona. For the design of this table, which was later produced and distributed by the Gres publishing house, Correa and Milá tried to reformulate the traditional forms of luxury tables based on their own contemporary vision.
This table represents the birth of what became known as the "Barcelona of design". Correa and Milá not only designed a piece of furniture, but an atmosphere of modern luxury. It was originally edited by firms such as Gres and, more recently, has been recovered and produced by Santa & Cole, underscoring its status as a timeless classic.
The tandem of Catalan architects Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá, both born in 1924, were one of the most prominent references of the Modern Movement in the second half of the 20th century. Correa and Milá followed the slogan that interior and industrial design were part of the same architectural project. Collaborators of José Antonio Coderch, they founded their own studio in 1953. Architecture of summer houses in Cadaqués, institutional and residential buildings, sports stadiums, factories and offices, interior design for the legendary restaurants FlashFlash or Il Giardinetto and singular and iconic design pieces to equip their own works and for furniture companies such as Gres.
