Pair of Plona chairs, iconic design by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli, an outstanding example of modern Italian design of the late 60s. This chair meant for the Italian firm Anonima Castelli the definitive consolidation as a world leader in avant-garde furniture. It was the natural and ambitious evolution of its predecessor, the iconic Plia chair.
Made of transparent methacrylate with a chromed steel structure, they combine visual lightness, technical innovation and great comfort. Highly appreciated in the vintage and mid-century design market, they are original pieces ideal for collectors and contemporary interior design projects.
Giancarlo Piretti studied at the Istituto Statale d'Arte in his native Bologna, and subsequently began collaborating with the firm Anonima Castelli, where he was head designer and head of development until 1972. Shortly before, in 1969, he had gained fame and recognition for his folding chair "Plia", with triple-hinged mechanism. He is currently represented in design collections such as that of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
