JAUME TRESSERRA CLAPÉS (Barcelona, 1943).
Bar cabinet "Eliptic", 1987.
Light walnut wood, stainless steel base.

Measurements: 160 x 50 x 32 cm.
Elegant bar cabinet designed by Jaume Tresserra Clapés, one of the key figures of Spanish furniture design at the end of the 20th century. With an elliptical body and refined proportions, the piece has a smooth and refined exterior, conceived to enhance the nobility of the light walnut and the continuity of its grain, barely interrupted by the spherical steel handles.
The interior reveals the constructive precision characteristic of Tresserra, with five shelves protected by discreet metal galleries of lines and spheres. The central shelf incorporates a drawer and sliding board, also with an elliptical profile, in perfect correspondence with the formal logic of the whole. The combination of hardwood, stainless steel and glossy, sulfur-finished hardware underscores the sophisticated, functional and almost architectural character of the design.
It was that same year, 1987, when Jaime Tresserra began his projection by presenting his first collection at the International Furniture Fair in Valencia (1987), where he won the Award for Best Modern Furniture Design. In 1994 he founded Tresserra Collection, a firm dedicated to the exclusive production of his designs. His pieces were exhibited at international fairs such as Milan and Cologne and received awards such as the ID International Design Magazine Award and the International Design Review Award in New York, consolidating him as a reference in Spanish design at the end of the 20th century.
