DESCRIPTION

Italian coffee table from the 1970s in the manner of MASSIMO VIGNELLI (Milan, 1931-2014).

Sophisticated Italian table from the 1970s inspired by the radical and refined language of Massimo Vignelli, an essential figure of international design in the 20th century and an absolute reference of Italian modernism. The piece stands out for its sculptural construction and its balance between geometric rigor and visual lightness. The curved glass top, worked in a single continuous surface, generates a sense of fluidity and architectural tension, while the black conical base introduces a solid and precise contrast that structures the whole with great elegance. In line with Vignelli's philosophy - based on formal reduction and compositional clarity - this table eliminates all superfluous elements to focus on the purity of forms and the relationship between materials. The result is a piece with a markedly contemporary presence, capable of dialoguing with both minimalist interiors and spaces with a strong collector's character.

Massimo Vignelli was an important and famous Italian graphic and industrial designer. He attended a school in Brera, before obtaining his degree in architecture at the University of Milan. During 1953 and 1957, he also attended the School of Architecture at the University of Venice. At the beginning of his professional career, his area of specialization would be graphic design for the creation of products and corporate identities. In the late 1950s, he obtained a scholarship to study in the United States, specifically at Towle Silversmiths, Massachusetts and the Chicago Institute of Design. He created his own firm, Vignelli Associates, together with his wife. He based his work on modernism and simplicity, which is manifested through his taste for the use of geometric design.
