BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Coat of arms, possibly Prussian. Germany, second half of the 19th century
Pewter and silvered copper.
Some coins are silver.
Needs to be reworked. Presents restorations.
Measurements: 75 x 59 x 20 cm.
Decorative piece of heraldic character, worked in metal with applications of authentic coins, some of them in silver. The upper part is crowned by a sculptural rampant lion, symbol of power and vigilance. Around the heraldic field there are vegetal bouquets of naturalistic inspiration, typical of the nineteenth century ornamental language. In the center of the coat of arms is an imperial eagle surrounded by a laurel border, a classic motif that alludes to victory and prestige. The coin inlay not only reinforces the material value of the object, but also acts as a symbolic resource linked to prosperity and economic power.
From its workmanship and style, it is probably a commemorative or representational piece, associated with the Prussian sphere within the German Empire, at a time when national and dynastic symbols acquired great relevance in the visual culture of the time.
