One of the best-known models in Marian iconology is that of the Virgin Hodigitria, or “she who shows the way.” In this Greek icon this model is followed, as can be seen by the right hand with fine fingers that points to the Child, showing him to the viewer. We are faced with a quality piece, in which the sumptuous clothing, the fleshings and the modeling receive an attentive formal and chromatic treatment. Two angels flank the Virgin touching her golden crown, a gesture that also refers to the coronation of the Virgin. Several saints are represented at the bottom with their respective attributes.
