DESCRIPTION
Side table; William IV, C. 1830.
Walnut carved wood.
Measurements: 38 x 38 x 35 cm.
Victorian style side table entirely made of walnut wood, with small round top. It stands on a tripod-like foot, which converge in a central shaft with thick turned reliefs of eighteenth-century inspiration.
The William IV style mixes Georgian aesthetics with other styles of the time such as Louis XV. This eclecticism is largely due to the fact that it is a transitional style between neoclassicism and regency aesthetics. The furniture of this period finds inspiration in models of classical antiquity from a majestic and imposing perspective.
