This work is a collector's edition of the famous Autobiography of the Renaissance sculptor and goldsmith Benvenuto Cellini, one of the most outstanding artists of the Italian Renaissance. His autobiographical text, written in the 16th century, is an exceptional document for understanding the artistic, social and cultural life of the time.
The modern edition was produced by Editorial Planeta in collaboration with the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation, and brings together Cellini's text with an important series of illustrations by Salvador Dalí. These images come from the drawings and watercolors that the surrealist artist created in 1945 in New York to illustrate an English edition of the autobiography, showing his fascination with the figure of the Renaissance creator, whom he considered a model of a multidisciplinary artist.
The edition consists of two volumes: one devoted to the autobiographical text and the other to critical studies that analyze both the figure of Cellini and Dalí's artistic interpretation. The set is presented in a special slipcase and was conceived as a work intended for collectors and art book lovers.
