Far from viewing photography as a medium of objective representation, Ingeborg Lüscher has built a career marked by experimentation with natural processes and by constant reflection on visual perception. Her interest in states of transformation—combustion, crystallization, smoke, foam, and evaporation—has given rise to a body of work in which nature ceases to be a subject and becomes a phenomenon in constant flux. This photograph, taken as part of the series *Meer und Land*, fits within this context, as the artist applies this research to the coastal landscape and its ceaseless transformations.
Ingeborg Lüscher is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses photography, installation, video, and object-based work. Before devoting herself fully to the visual arts, she pursued a career as an actress in Germany and Switzerland. Although her artistic training was essentially self-taught, her career was closely linked to some of the major debates in European conceptual art. Since the 1970s, she has held major solo and group exhibitions at institutions in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria, and other European countries. Her work has been shown in museums such as the Kunstmuseum Bern, the Museum Tinguely (Basel), the Kunsthaus Zürich, and the Museo d’Arte della Svizzera Italiana (MASI) (Lugano), as well as in numerous galleries and centers dedicated to contemporary art. She has also participated in various projects linked to the Venice Biennale. Her work is part of major public and private collections, including those of the Kunstmuseum Bern, the Kunsthaus Zürich, the Museum Tinguely (Basel), the Museo d’Arte della Svizzera Italiana (MASI), the Fondazione Marguerite Arp, as well as various Swiss and German institutional collections dedicated to contemporary art.
