BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Attributed to VICENTE BERDUSAN (Ejea de los Caballeros, Aragón, 1632 - Tudela, Navarra, 1697).
"Eucharistic Christ.
Oil on canvas.
Measurements: 68 x 51 cm; 84.5 x 67 cm (frame).
In this canvas attributed to the Navarrese-Aragonese painter Vicente Berdusan we see a simple composition. Christ appears half-length, on a neutral and dark background that enhances its corporeality, since it is directly illuminated, with a uniform light of classical roots, which shows the knowledge of the Italian novelties.
Professionally consolidated in the 1660s, the painter Vicente Berdusán was fully integrated into the Madrid school of the Baroque period, developing a style that evolved from a certain archaic style to a more relaxed one, with a growing importance of color and light. This prolific artist, whose more than three hundred signed and dated works are preserved, left his mark mainly in Aragon, La Rioja and Navarre, although he also worked in Madrid, Catalonia and the Basque Country. His work can currently be admired in the Prado Museum, the Museum of Tudela, the Museum of Huesca, the Museum of Navarra and in various churches and collections throughout Spain.
