The work in tender presents a nocturnal sacred interior, whose only source of light is the candle held by one of the pray-ers. The protagonists unfold around the chapel of what could be a St. Francis. The contrasting illumination allows us to clearly see the faces of some of the faithful, while others are hidden by the gloom. The magnificent architecture indicates that we are in the side aisles of a great church or cathedral.
