After GASTON CASIMIR SAINT-PIERRE (Nimes, 1833-Paris, 1916).
"Young man with antelope".
Oil on canvas.

Measurements: 82 x 57 cm; 102 x 78 cm (frame).
Painting of orientalist theme, representing a young Egyptian girl caressing the muzzle of a gazelle. The girl wears an indigo skirt and satin reflections. She wears bracelets on her ankles and forearms. Her face is smiling and she looks sideways at the friendly animal. The interior of an Arabian courtyard is insinuated. The work is part of the orientalist genre that was in vogue in the nineteenth century. Zannerman here versions the homonymous work of the French painter Gaston Casimir Saint-Pierre, who made numerous trips to North Africa and Algiers that inspired his paintings.
