Ricardo Verdugo Landi was a virtuoso sailor from Malaga who, as a favorite disciple of Emilio Ocón, stood out for his capacity to capture with great subtlety the atmospheres and emotions of the marine horizon, obtaining multiple recognitions in National and international Exhibitions in cities like Panama, Zaragoza and Barcelona. Parallel to his pictorial success, he developed an influential career in Madrid as artistic director of all the publications of ABC and as founder of the emblematic magazines "La Esfera" and "Nuevo Mundo", work that he combined with positions of cultural relevance such as curator of the Museum of Malaga and academician of San Telmo. His double legacy as a renovator of the Spanish navy and pioneer of graphic journalism is preserved today in prestigious institutions such as the Prado Museum, the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the MACBA.
