DESCRIPTION
Dutch School of the XIX-XX century.
Following models of Govaert Flink (1615-1660).
"Portrait of a lady".
Oil on panel.
Measurements: 118 x 83 cm.
Adjoins pigment report establishing that it is a work of the nineteenth century or later.
The work follows models of Govaert Flinck (1615-1660), one of the most famous and successful pupils of Rembrandt. This is evident in the warm color palette, dominated by browns, ochers, golds and deep reds.
The lighting is tenebrist but soft, concentrating the light on the face and hands of the lady while the background merges into the darkness, a technique designed to highlight the psychology of the character.
