DESCRIPTION

Santi Moix, artist living in New York, develops an artistic practice characterized by a constant expressive search and an intense creative activity. His production, marked by a direct and experimental attitude, is configured as a continuous process of research and learning. Although he cultivates various disciplines such as drawing and sculpture, it is in painting where he finds his main space for aesthetic reflection. His pictorial work, predominantly abstract, reveals a profound capacity for drawing, evidenced in projects such as the series inspired by Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Moix's visual language oscillates between abstraction and figuration, generating disturbing compositions that refer to natural forms, although without replicating them. He himself considers sculpture and painting inseparable within his creative process, conceiving them as complementary manifestations of the same artistic trajectory. His work is distinguished by accumulation, fragmentation, sensuality and a formal lyricism that unfolds in dense and vital surfaces. Through schematic biomorphic structures and labyrinthine compositions, Moix proposes a reflection on the instability of the contemporary world and a vindication of an alternative, dynamic and passionate time.
His recent projects include the intervention in the Romanesque church of San Víctor, in Saurí (Pallars Sobirà), where he integrated his pictorial language into a religious space, thus expanding the scope of his work in public contexts. In 2002 he received a grant from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation in recognition of his artistic career.
