In this drawing, Josep Maria de Sucre presents a frontal figure, almost iconic, constructed from a deliberately elementary figuration.
Art critic, writer and painter, Josep Maria de Sucre held his first solo exhibition in October 1928, at the Dalmau Galleries. He was a key figure in Barcelona's culture. In 1962 he was awarded the Juan Gris Prize for his pictorial career, and in 1964 a book of his memoirs was published. Sucre is currently represented in the MACBA in Barcelona and in the Gargallo Museum in Zaragoza, as well as in other public and private collections.
