Measurements: 73 x 54 cm; 88 x 68 cm (frame).
The most striking aspect of this piece is that, despite being signed by Antonio López Gutiérrez, its pictorial language is surprisingly close to Amalia Avía’s artistic universe. Rather than an overly polished finish, here we find visible brushstrokes, a more vibrant texture, and an enveloping atmosphere that lends warmth to the entire composition. The palette, dominated by soft, muted, and slightly earthy tones, also recalls the Madrid-born painter’s chromatic sensibility. This similarity makes the work an interesting double tribute: on the one hand, to the subject herself, and on the other, to her approach to painting.
Trained in the principles of academic drawing, López Gutiérrez focused primarily on portraiture and figure painting, genres in which he demonstrated remarkable technical mastery.
