BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

CRISTINA BABILONI (Castellón de la Plana, 1981).
"Astroides" 2023.
Mixed media (matter and fabric) on canvas.
Signed, dated and titled on the back.
Measurements: 80 x 80 cm.

In Astroides, Cristina Babiloni displays a painting of strong material presence and great chromatic intensity, in which the gesture, the texture and the accumulation of layers build a space in constant transformation. The predominance of deep blues evokes a cosmic and expansive environment, crossed by color irruptions that appear as fragments in suspension, suggesting impacts, displacements and processes of change.

The work incorporates matter and fabric, common elements in Babiloni's practice, coming from the field of construction and the ceramic industry. Her creative process is based on a circularity of materials, where energy, texture and composition acquire an essential role. Through this methodology, the artist transforms matter into her own visual language that reflects on permanence, sustainability and the relationship between nature and humanity.

Although abstract, Astroides refers to immersive landscapes that oscillate between the cosmic and the organic, inviting a contemplative and sensorial experience. The fragility of ecosystems, the balance between the natural and the human, and the search for harmony run through the work, reinforced by a vibrant palette that activates both emotion and introspection.

Cristina Babiloni's international career, with exhibitions in Madrid, New York and Andorra, her participation in fairs such as ARCO Madrid and the presence of her work in relevant collections, is accompanied by a firm social and environmental commitment. This positioning, together with the integration of a psychological perspective in her artistic practice, consolidates Babiloni as a singular voice of contemporary art, capable of turning matter into emotion and painting into a space for reflection.
