EZEQUIEL MARTÍNEZ LLASE (Buenos Aires, 1981).

In "David with the head of Goliath", Ezequiel Martínez Llaser revisits one of the most represented biblical episodes in the history of art from an intensely psychological and contemporary perspective. Far from the heroic triumphal gesture, the artist presents a restrained, almost introspective David, whose victory seems to weigh him down rather than glorify him. Goliath's head, suspended and separated from the body, acquires a symbolic character that refers to the idea of fragmentation, defeat and loss of identity.
The use of chiaroscuro, heir to baroque tenebrism, focuses attention on the tension between the two faces: that of the victor and that of the vanquished, which function as a moral mirror rather than as a simplistic opposition. The light models the bodies with sculptural precision and underlines the emotional ambiguity of the scene, transforming the biblical story into a reflection on power, violence and the price of will.
Trained in Art and Philosophy between the University of Buenos Aires and the University Paris VIII, Ezequiel Martinez Llaser's work is based on a solid theoretical foundation that dialogues with a precise and demanding pictorial technique.
His work has been presented in numerous international contexts, highlighting his continued participation in the MEAM Museum in Barcelona through several editions of The MEAM Hall, as well as in the Salon International du Portrait at the Bastille Design Center in Paris and in the XIII Biennale of Florence at the Fortezza da Basso. He has also exhibited in spaces such as Galerie Sonia Monti in Paris, Galerie Azur in Madrid, Galerie Art Course in Strasbourg and Espace 6B in Paris, where his project En otro poder was selected as the winner.
