DESCRIPTION
Coffee and tea service set CARRERAS JOYEROS, ca. 1910.
Silver 925.
With hallmarks on all pieces.
Net weight: 6750 g.
Measurements: 39 x 67 cm; 42 cm (maximum height).
Art Deco set in 925 silver composed of samovar, coffee pot, chocolate pot, milk jug, sugar bowl and serving tray. All the pieces fully respond to the aesthetic language of Art Deco, characterized by the geometrization of the forms, the rounded volumes and the marked compositional symmetry. However, the ensemble retains certain influences of French classicism, noticeable in the gadrooned details and the pineapple-shaped finials used as handles. Likewise, the arched legs of the central samovar and the angular handles provide a sense of dynamism and stylized movement, distinctive features of deco decoration. The balance between classical elegance and geometric modernity gives the ensemble a remarkable formal sophistication.
Carreras Joyeros was one of the most important sagas of silversmiths and jewelers in Barcelona, founded in the 18th century and consolidated during the 19th century as a prestigious goldsmith's house linked to the high bourgeoisie and the Spanish court. At the beginning of the 20th century, and especially after the association with the Masriera family in 1915 under the firm Masriera y Carreras, the company stood out for the production of jewelry and silver objects of great luxury, including coffee and tea sets, samovars and decorative pieces of refined execution.
