BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

ROLEX Oyster Perpetual Datejust Lady. Year 1991. Model 69178, Serial No. W26XXXX.
In 18k yellow gold. Champagne-colored dial with diamond hour markers. Luminescent baton-style hands. Central seconds hand. Date window with Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock. Fluted bezel. President bracelet with hidden folding clasp in 18k gold. Automatic movement. It works. The crystal has slight chips. Documentation and original box included.

Measurements: 26 mm (case diameter); 15 cm (wrist diameter).

The Datejust watch embodies Rolex’s definition of classic elegance. Launched in 1945, it was the first automatic, waterproof chronometer wristwatch to feature a date display in a window at the 3 o’clock position. The magnifying effect of this Cyclops lens is a reminder that “24 hours not only make up a day, but also mark a date to remember,” says Rolex. Hans Wilsdorf, founder of Rolex, described it as a technical feat, going so far as to state in 1945 that the Datejust was “the pinnacle of watchmaking. It synthesizes every discovery made to date.” In 1957, a ladies’ version was launched: the Oyster Perpetual Lady Datejust. “As reliable as the Datejust, it embodies all the attributes of the original model,” states the brand.

When the description of a watch states “it works,” it means the watch is functioning. Since collector’s watches typically have delicate and complex mechanisms, the buyer is responsible for any general servicing, inspection, battery replacement, adjustment, or repair that may be necessary. We do not guarantee the perfect functioning of any watch. All photographs of our watches are original and were taken by our photographers; in other words, we do not use stock photography, which is why the photographs are considered part of the cataloging process.
