DESCRIPTION
Frame; Italy, early 18th century.
Carved and gilded wood.
Measurements: 16 x 13 cm (light); 31,5 x 28 cm (frame).
Italian frame of the late eighteenth century made of carved, polychrome and gilded wood. Of rectangular form, it presents the molded perimeter to the interior and to the exterior, with smooth golden moldings. It is worth mentioning that it has decoration in the corners, where there are elements carved in relief, ornamental motifs composed of thick acanthus leaves worked with naturalism. It is a frame that follows the pastiglia type decoration. Italian technique consisting of a low relief in plaster usually applied mostly on frames and furniture, the technique is originally a cheaper imitation of wood carving techniques.
