One of the favorite themes of Josep Busquets was the representation of the female figure in the aspect of the nude of noucentista root, what we can appreciate in the sculpture in tender. It is a work that manifests an artistic language rooted in the classical world: beauty, proportion, serenity and balance. In this work Busquets also connects with the avant-garde, thanks to a work of purification and formal synthesis that strips the work of any accessory and anecdotal element, looking for the essence, that immutable, which unites the archaic world with the present of the twentieth century.

Initially trained at the Escuela del Trabajo de Valls and later at the Taller-Escuela de Tarragona, where he had as teachers Joan Rebull and Salvador Martorell, Josep Busquets developed a solid sculptural career linked to both tradition and the renewing currents of the twentieth century. After the Spanish Civil War, he resumed his production focused on religious commissions, such as the reproduction of the main altarpiece of the parish church of San Juan in Valls, and processional steps.
Already established in Barcelona from 1942, his work evolved influenced by his trips to Greece, Italy and Paris, which is reflected in his classical sensibility and his modern treatment of volumes. He actively participated in the Catalan and Madrid exhibition circuit, with solo shows at the Campañá, Syra and Sala Parés Galleries, as well as at the Salón de Arte Los Madrazo and the Galería El Cisne in Madrid.
