DESCRIPTION

Pair of Japanese vases. Meiji era, last third of the nineteenth century.
Hand painted ceramics.
Exhibits wear consistent with age and use and some lack of polychrome.
Measurements: 36 x 18 x 18 cm.

Pair of Japanese vases from the nineteenth century (Meiji period). With an amphora-shaped design, its sinuous neck ends in an expanded mouth with a wavy rim. Medallions in lobed profile house idyllic landscapes with mountainous outlines, trees and birds. The decoration in different shades of brown combines with the reddish background of the landscape phonemes and subtle strokes of gold.
