This large floor lamp is a distinctive and sculptural piece, representative of bold and experimental Italian design of the 1970's. Designed by Matteo Gencarelli and Antonello Beltrami, it captures the aesthetics of an era that explored new forms and materials.
The lamp is composed of six very thin tubular arms, which emerge from a central upright and curve elegantly outward and upward. This structure creates a filiform bouquet, evoking a light source or the pistils of a mechanical flower.
The arched design is a clear example of the Space Age style and Italian modernism, which sought to create pieces that were both functional and the absolute protagonist of the space. It patents a deep understanding of form, balance and material.
The lamp was edited by the Italian firm Ricerca New Design during the 1970s, a company that was part of the vibrant ecosystem of lighting manufacturers that positioned Italy at the forefront of world design.
The arms are made of brass, which lends a warm, reflective finish that is very characteristic of 1970s interior design. A solid base in lacquered metal acts as an essential counterweight to stabilize the impressive wingspan of the arms. Each arm culminates in a small cylindrical lamp holder that houses the bulb, completing the clean, minimalist design.
