These four paintings, oil on glass, are inscribed in the devotional tradition of the Majorcan or Italian school of the eighteenth century, an artistic field that combined the survival of the late Baroque with a progressive approach to Rococo and popular religious taste.
The scenes present carefully delineated figures, with vivid, intense and enameled colors, a characteristic effect of the vitreous support. The composition of each image shows a clear didactic and devotional emphasis: Saint Dominic receives heavenly inspiration; Saint Joachim instructs the Virgin child; Saint Francis appears in an attitude of mystical surrender; and Saint Michael the archangel triumphs over the demons with a fully baroque dynamism. The backgrounds, constructed by means of soft chromatic gradations and vaporous clouds, respond to a spiritualized late baroque language, while the luminosity and the decorative refinement of the draperies are close to the Mediterranean religious rococo, very present both in Mallorca and in Italy during that period.
The ensemble thus reflects an eighteenth-century religious-popular style, where narrative clarity, restrained theatricality and the chromatic brilliance of the glass are placed at the service of the domestic devotional function, typical of the painting on glass produced in the Mediterranean territories in the eighteenth century.
