La Cueva del Contador is often described as a serious, elegant and complex wine, with a marked presence of ripe fruit and well-integrated oak. It is appreciated for its balance between power and elegance, and usually requires decanting or cellaring to reach its full potential in the glass.

Benjamín Romeo is one of the most authentic winemakers in the Rioja appellation. After starting his career at Artadi, in 1995 he returned to his hometown, San Vicente de la Sonsierra, with the project of creating his own wine. After humble beginnings, in his own garage, in 2008 he created his own winery, where he will make the most personal wines of the appellation in recent times.
