Sexhollywood - Blue Background is a work that encapsulates the essence of the pop-art style of Antonio de Felipe, a contemporary painter known for fusing popular culture iconography with a graphic and vibrant approach. In this painting, the artist employs his characteristic use of color and saturation to create striking contrast, while the blue background evokes an almost surreal atmosphere, while highlighting the main figures that seem to be taken directly from a media and consumerist universe.
The work reflects the influence of classic pop-art, reminiscent of artists such as Andy Warhol, who explored the repetition of cultural icons and the relationship between art and mass consumption. However, in the case of De Felipe, there is a more explicit dimension that mixes the glamour of cinema and mass culture with a critical tone about superficiality and objectification.
A leading figure of contemporary Pop and linked to the Les Nouveaux Pop movement, De Felipe develops a wide and coherent production through emblematic series such as Logotipos, Vacas, Cinemaspop or Popsport. His style is based on a strong aesthetic, dominated by intense and provocative color, and by direct themes that connect without filters with the collective imaginary.
His creative versatility has led him to collaborate with key figures of visual culture, such as Pedro Almodóvar in Carne Trémula, as well as to work in design, media and major international publications. With more than ninety solo exhibitions and presence in reference institutions such as the Reina Sofía Museum, the IVAM or the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection, Antonio de Felipe is consolidated as an essential artist of Spanish Pop, with a recognizable, accessible and firmly positioned work in the market and in the recent history of contemporary art.
