Pair of Camusso Candelabra whose ornamentation is part of the high level Peruvian goldsmith tradition, recognized for its technical mastery and its continuity with historical European models reinterpreted in a local key. Made in Sterling silver, these candelabras present a balanced and symmetrical composition, with five lights each: a raised central stem and four curved arms that unfold elegantly from the main node.
From the formal point of view, the scroll arms, the circular saucers to collect the wax and the fluted shaft culminating in a lobed base with smooth profiles stand out. The whole is reminiscent of a refined baroque-rococo language, characteristic of 20th century decorative pieces that dialogue with the past without falling into literal copying. The polished finish highlights the quality of the silver and the precision of the chiseling, evidencing a careful and consistent craftsmanship.
As for the authorship, the name Camusso is associated in Peru with silversmith workshops active during the 20th century, valued for their production destined for ceremonial uses as well as for prestigious domestic interiors. These houses were able to respond to a modern demand that appreciated the nobility of the material and the permanence of classical styles, adapting them to contemporary standards of taste and functionality.
