DESCRIPTION

GUMERSINDO SAINZ DE MORALES (Madrid, 1900 - Barcelona, 1976).

Signed in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 62 x 52 cm; 70 x 60 cm (frame).

Formed in the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando, in Madrid, soon he settles in Barcelona in a definitive way. In Barcelona he became known as an illustrator in publications such as "Imatges". In 1941 he made his individual debut in the Costa Galleries in Barcelona, and from then on he exhibited in the Argos, Augusta and Rovira galleries. He also held personal exhibitions in Madrid, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Valencia, Palma de Mallorca and Sitges, as well as abroad. He cultivated watercolor and oil painting, expressing himself through a style of great strength and a certain chromatic austerity, focused on the themes of figures and urban landscapes. Specializing in gypsy themes, his painting delves into the soul of the character and reflects all his melancholy and dignity.
