DESCRIPTION
Large modular screen. Baumann. France, ca. 1940
In bent beech wood.
Preserves manufacturer's metal plate.
Exhibits wear consistent with age and use and patina, visible in the images.
Measurements: 175 x 300 cm.
Large format folding screen made of curved wood, composed of assembled vertical slats that generate a continuous undulating development of marked architectural effect. The flexible structure allows to modulate the space through a sinuous rhythm that combines functionality and strong sculptural presence.
The warm honey tone of the wood and the linear repetition of the slats provide visual depth and lightness, filtering the light and articulating the space with great elegance. This type of formal solution is part of the French tradition of bentwood furniture developed by the Baumann factory, famous for its production of chairs and furniture since the end of the 19th century.
