Scene representative of the maturity of Miguel Forteza, where the artist displays with special sensitivity his mastery of the Mediterranean light through a Majorcan spring landscape in full bloom. The composition, open and profoundly atmospheric, articulates a delicate balance between the material density of the foreground -resolved with a brushstroke that is impastoed and vibrant- and the progressive dissolution of the forms in the distance, creating a sensation of depth and fleeting light that is very characteristic of his work. The choice of Pontiró, a rural enclave little altered, reinforces the painter's interest in capturing the intimate essence of the island's landscape, moving away from more conventional or costumbrist visions.
A member of the 1917 Generation of the Mallorcan school, Forteza developed a solid career between Mallorca and Barcelona, where he exhibited successfully, establishing himself as one of the most personal interpreters of the island's luminism. His work is part of the Mediterranean landscape tradition of impressionist roots, and is represented in public and private collections, being especially valued for the authenticity of his gaze and the sensory quality of his compositions, factors that sustain his attractiveness in today's market.
