During the 1950s and 1960s, Omega solidified its position among the leading Swiss watchmakers, thanks to its prestige in chronometry, the reliability of its movements, and a history of innovation that would culminate in NASA’s selection of the Speedmaster in 1965. The automatic Caliber 552 dates from this period; introduced in 1958, it belongs to the renowned 550 family, one of the brand’s most iconic mechanical series. Equipped with an automatic winding rotor, 24 jewels, and a frequency of 19,800 vibrations per hour, it stands out for its solid construction and its significance in Omega’s mid-20th-century production.
In the watch descriptions, when it states “it works,” it means the watch is functioning. Since collector’s watches typically have delicate and complex mechanisms, the buyer is responsible for any general servicing, inspection, battery replacement, adjustment, or repair that may be necessary. We do not guarantee the perfect functioning of any watch. All photographs of our watches are original and have been taken by our photographers; in other words, we do not use stock photography, which is why the photographs are considered part of the catalog listing.
