Coffee table inspired by one of the most iconic pieces of furniture of the eighties. In this version, the tubular steel builds a base of minimalist design formed by triangular lines, using the same solution as Paolo Piva but extending the four legs of the first Alanda table to six. In the model shown here, the visual purification is extreme with the disappearance of the horizontal slats that in Piva's table interrupt the transparency of the glass.
Designed by Paolo Piva for B&B Italia, Alanda was one of the most representative design objects of an era full of strong and bold stylistic signs, very often in dialogue with architecture, whose virtuosity was replicated in miniature.
Paolo Piva was an Italian architect and designer known throughout the world for his creations in the field of furniture. He graduated in architecture from the University Institute of Architecture in Venice and began to establish himself in the field of architecture and industrial design. He participated in solo and group exhibitions. In 1975 he collaborated with the Institute of History and Architecture in Venice and the Akademie für Angewandten Kunst in Vienna in the creation of a large exhibition on Vienna in the socialist period. In the 1980s he designed the Kuwaiti embassy in Qatar and engaged in various architectural projects as well as creation. In 1987 he was nominated for the 13th Compasso d'Oro Prize and in 1988 he became associate professor at the Akademie für Angewandten Kunst in Vienna, where he became full professor in 1991. In the field of industrial design he has collaborated with numerous prestigious companies in Europe and the United States.
