Set of four Rex chairs, designed by Niko Kralj in 1952, one of the most emblematic models of post-war Slovenian design. Made of curved beech plywood, the pieces stand out for their folding structure, light and functional, designed to facilitate everyday use without sacrificing a remarkable formal precision. The slatted seat and backrest provide flexibility, ventilation and a strong graphic identity, while the open geometry of the structure reinforces the feeling of lightness.
Niko Kralj was an architect and industrial designer, considered a central figure in 20th century Slovenian design. His Rex chair is part of the MoMA collection in New York, where the 1956 REX Lounge Chairs model is preserved, and is linked to the renewal of modern furniture through folding, ergonomic solutions suitable for serial production.
